Accession | GenProp0948 |
Name | RNA repair, Hen1/Pnkp system |
Type | SYSTEM |
Description | This property describe the combination of an RNA modification enzyme, the methyltransferase Hen1, and an RNA repair enzyme, polynucleotide kinase-phosphatase, as found in model species Clostridium thermocellum and in many other bacteria in a two-gene cassette. This pairing may allow RNA cleaved by ribotoxins to be repaired, and to be modified at the site of repair to prevent the same breakage from occurring again. |
JCVI Role | RNA processing |
Parent Property | GenProp0819: RNA metabolism
