Genome Property Definition Page

AccessionGenProp0833
Nameproteasome-targeting modification by pupylation
TypeSYSTEM
DescriptionPupylation is the process by which the small protein Pup is conjugated to proteins through its C-terminus to a lysine epsilon-amino group of the target. This modification, analogous to ubiquitination in eukaryotes, targets proteins for degradation by archaeal-type proteasomes in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and related Actinobacteria.
JCVI RoleDegradation of proteins, peptides, and glycopeptides
Parent PropertyGenProp0301: protein degradation
