Description | Organisms which may be transferred by close contact between host organisms (not including congenital mother-to-child transfer). This includes all modes of transfer in which the organisms spend an insignificant amount of time outside of a host-like environment. Included are casual direct contacts such as the transfer of droplets through the air over short distances without drying (sneezing, coughing), and transfers in which the organism resides on the outer surface of either of the donor and/or recipient hosts for a short amount of time. Also included are intimate contacts such as as transfers through sexual relations, organ transplant, and blood transfusion. |
